An overview of the historical and philosophical roots of the early childhood education profession, this course includes surveys of models of early care and education as well as the range and diversity of early childhood programs. Current issues and trends along with challenges and opportunities within the field are highlighted. The multi-faceted role of the early childhood educator will be emphasized.
