Medical assisting is projected among the nation's fastest growing occupations over the 2002-2012 period. Most employers prefer to hire graduates of formal programs, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Our nationally accredited Medical Assistant Program prepares students with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform a wide range of administrative and clinical duties.
The role of the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) varies depending on the location, size and specialty of the practice. Administrative duties may include updating medical records, handling correspondence and scheduling appointments. Clinical duties include preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, giving injections, inititiating IV therapy, administering EKG's and assisting physicians during examination.
